Moments | Leap! Part 2

D wears: Hoodie by Frank & Lu / Tee by Quinn and Fox / Jeans by I Dig Denim / Trainers by Tip Toey Joey.

Some more photos of our test run with the Leap trainers from Tip Toey Joey. D pretty much took the shoes through all forms of terrain - sand, rock, water and they seem to do well on all surfaces (well I wouldn't recommend water but what boys don't try a puddle if they see one?).

At the end of the day they got the thumbs up from the little guy who hardly wanted to take them off and only agreed to do so after I had given him permission to wear them at Kinder. So overall a really lovely shoe who gets extra point for comfort, support and good traction. Mum here gives it points for looks as well as how easy they are to put on, were as the boy thinks the L on the side who reminds him of a kangaroo foot is the coolest because he thinks he can jump higher in them ;)

Too see the earlier close up look of them go here, and to read where to find these shoes, either click on the shop source under the photos or visit the previous post for more info.

Moments | Leap! Part 1

D wears: Hoodie by Frank & Lu / Tee by Quinn and Fox / Arizona Blue jeans by I Dig Denim / Hi-top Trainers by Tip Toey Joey.

We recently were fortunate enough to get the opportunity to test try the new Leap shoes in Tip Toey Joey's Junior range. We mentioned them earlier here, but we definitely wanted to put the shoes to the test, and luckily I know the perfect boy who would really do just that.  Living on the coast we often spend time close to the water and my boy loves to spend time jumping on the big rocks, checking out the sea life and ask endless questions about the big, black swans and boats that goes by every so often. On this particular day we also spotted a big squadron of Pelicans which are quite majestic when they glide by like giants in the sky. This truly seem to be the best playground for us, and definitely a favourite hang out, and a good place to test the trainers out.

I honestly think the Leap shoes are the perfect action shoes for my boy. Since they go up a bit above the ankle they give plenty of support which is great, especially if you got a jumper like my boy. They also come with a great tough sole, with plenty of traction underneath that even make the most slippery rock an easy task to navigate over. Personally I really love the vintage look but they are also available in a black colour version which is just as nice. It doesn't get much cuter than the toddler version which of course is also available (this is how we first got familiar with the shoe company since my boy loved wearing them as a young baby/toddler.)

When your children wear new shoes for the first time there is often a bit of "breaking in" period with the shoe, or even a few falls because they haven't adjusted to them yet, but with these it was almost opposite. My boy fished up palm tree branches, jumped between rocks and set new records in how long he could jump out in the sand, all while I didn't hear a single peep about any chafing or soar heels. D gave them a real going over, and even stepped in a few rock pools, but all that happened to the shoes is perhaps they got an even better vintage look! I can definitely say two thumbs up from both mum and boy and definitely something we can recommend for both active boys and girls.

We had such a good afternoon by the bay that the camera worked on overdrive. I would like to share some more photos so tune in tomorrow for part 2!

Moments | Take me to the PLAYground

M wears: Dress by Molo / Leggings by Hummel Kids / Shoes by Pom d'Api. D wears: Tee by Frank & Lu / Pants by Mini & Maximus / Shoes by Natives / Cap by Zoo York.

Some photos from the weekend that passed. We found a great new playground in Chelsea and it only took the kids about 5 seconds to spot the cool, long slides they had. They had some great equipment to play on and plenty of shade as well. It was an unusual hot day so the shady areas came in handy after a lot of running up the big slide hill. There were some nice, sculpted benches for the parents to relax on and even a exercise area for the ones that had some energy to burn. M got to try out her new Molo dress (which I am totally in love with!) which has the cutest little illustrations all over it. It got such a nice colour combinations and the neon hems ties the whole dress together perfectly. I wish the print would come as a big poster (hint hint, Molo).

The kids ran around on all the slides, climbing areas and visited the cute little smurf village and managed to squeeze in some monkey bar action as well. After all that playing we were all starving and thirsty so we ended the day off with driving down to the bay in Beaumaris and had a late lunch and ice cream dessert on the beach. A pretty perfect Saturday I have to say!

Brand Watch | Frank & Lu

It wasn't long ago I stumbled across this US label, Frank & Lu. I fell for their lovely, comfy hoodies, with the button option and quickly looked through their webshop. I instantly found a lot of great looking clothes that I would describe as stylish basics. The sort of clothes that you find in the morning and instantly want to jump into.

The idea for Frank & Lu,  a line of fashion clothing for boys and girls, sprung from necessity. Since he was old enough to have an opinion, Frank would not wear scratchy, stiff t-shirts with monster trucks and dinosaurs on them.  If a big person wouldn’t wear them, why should a kid have to?   And though Lu likes pink ruffles and sparkles and tulle, she has to be comfortable or multiple outfit changes per day ensue.  So we built a fashion line that incorporates a high degree of style with comfort built in, using lighter weight fabrics that are easy for a child to get in and out of.

Michael Jarvela is the founder and CEO of Frank & Lu. Michael graduated from Parsons school of design in 1993.  A veteran fashion designer of 18 years, Michael has headed up the men’s department at Gap, created the best selling JCrew Tee shirts ever, and was there when Club Monaco was just a start up.

Frank and Lu are the Creative Directors at Frank & Lu.  Frank is 7 and Lu is 5.  Raised in New York City, they draw their inspiration from New York and all it has to offer.  Though Dad may design,  Frank and Lu tell him exactly what they like...and what they don’t. If they won’t wear it... he doesn’t make it. Because after 7 years of personal research on great style and comfort of kids clothes, the Frank and Lu philosophy is that their customers should be a whole lot less fussy about getting dressed.

Moments | Run Wild

M wears: Mika Sweatshirt by Mini & Maximus / Cloud pants by Shampoodle / Tee by Mini & Maximus. D wears: Surf Campo Hoodie by Frank & Lu / Tee by Mini & Maximus / Cap by Munster, Leggings by Mini & Maximus / Shoes by MAÁ shoes.

It was a Friday full of energy. Both kids at home and a lot of different ideas on what to do. One wanted to be Spiderman the other wanted to paint her nails. We did both and then decided to have a picnic outside. The sun has been very moody lately so when its finally out you got to grab the opportunity to play in it. It has also been a very windy week so the only place you can go to be free from it is that special sand dune place which is sheltered from all the hard winds coming from the sea.  M was happy to get to try out her sweater that she drew for Mini & Maximus. It arrived the other week and it was fun seeing how proud she was to wear it.

Little brother got to try out the good jumping place and we all got to have a good tumble in the sand. I can't wait until we can actually bring some swim wear and spend a whole afternoon here.

Happy Sunday out there!!
