We feel like coast surfers, who roam the coast for the best spots in the sun. These are the days we cling on to when the school week have become too long or rain is poring down on us on our bikes. The fresh sea air, the warm sand and exploration of the cliffs - a chance to relax and kick back and just take in the view of the magnificent place we live in. This is Spring!

Some weekend shenanigans and a bike trip to one of our favorite playgrounds. Kids are always full of beans and the best way to shake it out of them is to let them go wild at the park. Packed some sandwiches and coffees to go for the adults a day out was the best way to round off the weekend.

The kids felt bad that their Grandparents missed the big Easter egg hunt so we arranged a quick improvised chocolate rabbit hunt when they had arrived. It was hard to wait while Grandad hid the two rabbits but finally it was time to go and search them up. Bird, Fish or in between as we like to say in Swedish, depending on the location of the prize.

Little brothers rabbit was a "fish", and Big sister found hers up in a tree so "bird" it was.  Big smiles and hugs. It is amazing what a little bit of sweetness can do to ones afternoon.

Summer, sun and sand! And lots of it was the recipe for a good Christmas holiday in NSW. We visited the lovely beach by Nobby's in Newcastle and it was the best place for the kids to go exploring in the natural little rock pools (that were big enough to swim in).

It also seemed like nice spot to do some surfing in, since the waves were big and lots of surfers were having fun on them. We found a good little spot in the Ocean Bath facility with calm waters to swim in for the kids and plenty of places to check out the ocean life like exploring star fishes close up. D got a chance to try out his VIVOBAREFOOT which were the perfect summer shoes, they had a good grip on the wet rocks and it didn't matter if he walked in the water with them either. Big thumbs up from us.

This week promises 41c for a couple of days in a row so we are planning for more beach days, sipping ice blocks in the shade and any other way we can stay cool. The sizzling summer is here!

Some photos from today's hike in the fern rich Ranges. We were spoiled with some warm weather and sun so we took the opportunity to get some fresh mountain air into the lungs and get the kids exploring the lovely fern tree surroundings up there. I love the drive up there because on the winding roads and with the long wines hanging down from the trees it literally feels like you have stepped into an adventure (or maybe the Hobbit movie). The kids were great on their hike. We almost had to shout for them to slow down instead of coaxing them on.  They are definitely getting old enough to go on longer hikes now which is great. We spotted some red Rosella birds, and giant bull ants, and one pig (not wild though!). Beautiful day that ended with a hearty lunch and a trip to the lolly shop!
