I guess we have the Queen of England to thank for this lovely long weekend we had. Monday was Queen's birthday and a nice day off. We drove up to Red Hill on Sunday and we couldn't have been more lucky with the weather. The sun accompanied us all the way there and followed us around all day, warming us up. It is such a nice area up there in the higher ground that is Red Hill.
We visited the local brewery and stocked up on some nice microbrewery beer. We had lovely lunch at Epicurean and the kids were in luck as there was a giant inflatable jumping castle right next to the resturant! So while the kids got their jumping groove on, mum and dad here got to enjoy a cold beer and stone oven pizza together. There is nothing better than sitting in a nice spot feeling the sun on your cheeks. We can really recommend Epicurean, their lovely cafe and amazing restaurant (since its a lovely winery area up here there is amazing wine tasting opportunities everywhere). Wonderful food and such a nice little area to just walk around in and explore. Beautiful little shops with nice selections is also up here.
A stone throw from the cafe life we found a little path that lead straight into the wild. We followed it around into the thick ferns and collected sticks that became swords and pine cones that were magical. After we came out of the forest we walked back and grabbed some take away coffees and jumped back into the car. We drove around and took a look at the magnificent view of Arthur's Seat, and then it was time to head on back towards Melbourne again. Such a beautiful trip that I hope we can go on soon again.
Hope you all had a lovely (long) weekend out there!
