We had a few rainy days during the school holidays and on one particular one we decided to head for the city and explore the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) and their kids program Pastello - Draw Act. As part of the NGV commitment to design and children’s programming, Italian design duo Erika Zorzi and Matteo Sangalli of Mathery Studio have designed a new immersive kids space that broadens our appreciation of the simple act of drawing.

Pastello – Draw Act re-imagines traditional drawing tools and processes. Children are invited to use their bodies to draw with their heads, feet and of course hands using crayon spheres and other unusual tools. We love taking the kids to the art gallery and a few friends of ours had already visited the kids space and recommended a visit. It was fun seeing the kids exploring new ways of drawing, and unconventional ways of doing so as well. D was puzzled to say the least when he put on a crayon helmet and started drawing with his head. There were also crayon foot wear that you could put on your shoes and draw on the wall.

Best was all the massive crayons in all different shapes and sizes that all were easy to explore and draw with. It was easy to feel like a big kid yourself and go wild with the paper and crayon.

After a few hours of drawing and exploring the gallery everybody was exhausted from the input and after a lunch in the city we finally headed towards the train station and back home, tired but full of new impressions and experiences.

Art | Munsterkids Collab

If there is a brand that some how personifies the little urban legends out there then it has to be Australian Munsterkids. When we moved Down Under it was one of the brands that quickly caught my attention and I loved their graphic styles, and more importantly so did the boys. Since then munsterkids have added both missie (the girl line) and mini & lilmissie (for the little ones). We have numerous of munster threads in both my boys and my girls wardrobe and when I got a chance to illustrate for the label last year it was a bit of a dream come true. Fast forward a few months and the result is almost out in stores. Here are a few of the illustrations that will soon be available at several retailers and in munsterkids own webshop. Needless to say it was a pure joy to be apart of their cool collection, and gladly something I would do again.

Moments | Happiness

Happiness is apparently a neon green trick scooter with two wheels when you turn 5. It was the one thing my boy kept on mentioning and lucky for us we found one, just in time for his birthday. He of course had to take it for a spin, even if it has just been raining. It was a happy day indeed.

Brand Watch | I Dig Denim AW14 ' The Denim Ocean'

Our favourite Scandinavian denim brand I Dig Denim is back with another season of denim treasures!

I Dig Denim's Autumn/Winter collection 2014/2015 is a tribute to the cool factor of denim. Inspiration is drawn from the fabric itself, and how it can be mixed and matched to create contemporary yet timeless looks. In this collection they have opted for a downright relaxed look, pairing denim with sweaters, jackets and beanies. They have kept their popular jeans fits from previous collections, but this season they come in a wider range of colours, as well as tops without prints and knits.

It is no secret that we love this brand and have featured it a lot. It is hands down my kids favourite denim and with their soft take on denim it is not hard to see why.

Moments | Chasing the Sun

Another school holiday done and dusted. I can't believe how hard it always seem to be to get into routines again. Kids seem to have a harder time getting up and so does the parents. We have not missed making school lunches in the morning that is for sure. Here are some moments from one of our last days. The day before my boy turned 5. We were chasing the sun and finally found it on the sand dunes and got to enjoy it before it disappeared it again. It has been a fairly cold holiday but when the sun comes out its has been magical to be outside.

One of our favorite Scandinavian labels are Danish molo. They have been in our wardrobes for a long time and the colourful designs are always a hit with the kids. We got to try out some outfits from their latest AW14 collection, from Australian retailer Small Folk and the wild cats tee were a perfect match up with their black track pants. My girl Mika picked the fitting M sweat and she couldn't find a better pair of leggings than the Wild Horses leggings! Small Folk have free shipping in Australia and they also ship worldwide.

Good thing about school holiday is that you can wander. The other day we decided to go back to our old stomping grounds, Prahran. The atmosphere is amazing there and there are so many funny and quirky stores to look in. The kids love to go in and out of stores, exploring and with a few extra hands in the form of grandparents even mum here got to visit some favourite stores like Magnation, American Apparel, Trigger Bros and numerous stores on Greville st. I got to stock up on some new magazines and found some new artwork for the house. Even just going into a 2 dollar shop and try out silly hats turned out to be a big hit with the kids.

When everybody's legs get tired, there are heaps of cosy cafes to visit and warm up in. We had to visit grandma's favourite chocolate hang out, San Churro and have some hot chocolate (although the kids went for ice-cream, who cares if its winter!) After a few hours it was nice to head back for home and chat about all the fun stuff we saw that day and digest all the impressions of a day in the urban jungle.
